Call out for Board Members (Voluntary)
The Courtyard is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation with funding secured from them until 2027. Our Board is key to ensuring we deliver our business plan objectives in relation to the Arts Council’s 10-year Let’s Create strategy. We are seeking three dynamic and committed individuals to support our further development and growth to build on our achievements.
Board Members play an important and integral role in providing advice through their personal expertise, robust internal governance and scrutiny, and externally by supporting our future development.
We are seeking those with a wide range of experiences and who reflect the broad range of people and communities in Hereford. Applications from those living with a disability and/or from ethnic minorities are particularly welcome. Those with experience of chairing a charitable organisation are also welcome to apply, as we are seeking to elect a Chair in the near future.
The Board members meet quarterly and are expected to join at least one of the sub-committees. Alongside this, they attend the exciting guest nights for each in-house production. Whilst the role of Board Member is voluntary, it is exciting and extremely rewarding to support the local community with a sustainable and open approach to securing the arts in Herefordshire for the future. These are unpaid, non-executive roles and applicants should be passionate and effective advocates for the arts, willing and able to proactively support The Courtyard.
Job Requirements
a broad overview of, and the ability to address, issues relating to the full range of The Courtyard’s responsibilities
knowledge and understanding of the arts, and the ability to command respect within the arts constituency
knowledge and understanding of the county of Herefordshire and the ability to command respect amongst key county and regional stakeholders
the ability and willingness to act as an advocate for The Courtyard and to represent our work to a broad audience
the ability to think imaginatively and strategically, and contribute to effective decision-making
an understanding and commitment to diversity
An implicit understanding of the importance of fundraising to a registered charity and a commitment to assist with The Courtyard’s fundraising efforts
