Job Summary

Culture Chelmsford & Spark! youth movement are looking for an experienced Events Producer, to deliver a new Gaming Fringe Festival for Chelmsford (‘Playable Worlds’), as part of Anglia Ruskin University’s Chelmsford Science Festival 2026. We welcome applications from individuals or groups.

Job Description

As part of the Anglia Ruskin University Chelmsford Science Festival 2026, Culture Chelmsford and Spark! youth movement are spearheading a new youth and community-led fringe focused on gaming. This will form part of the wider Chelmsford Science Festival programme, and integrate with its theme of Future Worlds: Earth, Space and You, but will also have its own distinct objectives, audiences and branding.

– Increase in young people aged 16-24 attending the Chelmsford Science Festival (and younger groups creating future pipeline), via youth designed content and marketing.

– Connections consolidated across Chelmsford gaming and related industry career pathways, via families, school, college and university classes, and local industry experts working together thought the fringe festival.

– Testing a replicable model for a unique youth and community led gaming fringe, which Chelmsford Science Festival and Chelmsford partners can utilise for future years.

The outline Playable Worlds programme has already been scoped by Spark!, with input from local experts, and many key delivery partners have been engaged. We are looking for someone who can now finalise the design stages in collaboration with young people and communities; organise and deliver the programme of events; work with marketing colleagues to drive sign up; and undertake evaluation throughout.

Fee & Budget
– Event producer fee: £8,000
– Programming, Technician & Community Engagement budget: £7,000

Branding assets and marketing support will be provided by Culture Chelmsford, Anglia Ruskin University and our partners. Culture Chelmsford will also provide support with community and youth engagement for the co-design and organisation stages.

See Full Role Description for Programme Timeline, June – December 2026.
