Job Description
This is a remount of the production that previously played in the West End and has toured to Canada, Dubai and Beijing. We will be rehearsing in London, UK, before touring to 8 venues in China between December 2025 – March 2026, dates below. The tour is managed by Jonathan Church Theatre Productions (provisional schedule available on request, please contact mailto:[email protected] – [email protected]).
We are looking for a LX 1 & 2 to support all lighting aspects during touring in China.
The LX 1 & 2 will maintain and operate the lighting of the show throughout the tour, including ensuring smooth transport, move, get in and out between locations. In total around 70 UK team members will be in the touring, joined by some local, China based team members. There will be Chinese translators.
The LX 1 & 2 will report to the Lighting Designer and Company Manager (touring).
Key Contract Dates (subject to change):
1 December 2025 – Travel to China (tbc)
2 December 2025 – 16 March 2026 – Tour dates in China across multiple locations, average 1-2 weeks at each location.
16 March 2026 – Return to UK
For information only: 3 November – 29 November 2025 Rehearsals in London, LX 1 & 2 are not required.
Fixed term contract and all terms will be above UK Theatre/BECTU plus:
– Economy class flight (please note, unfortunately, there is no flexibility on the flight dates)
– High standard hotel – single occupancy
– Local ground transportation
– Per diem £35 local currency equivalent
You must have at least 6 months left on your passport from April 2026 onwards. In order to be granted a full visa for the tour you will need to undergo a medical examination once you arrive in China which will include blood tests, ECG and chest x-Ray. Please note this is a legal requirement to gain a visa so no exceptions can be made.
Job Requirements
Candidates experience should include:
Experience of production lighting role in a similar, large scale touring theatre environment
Experience with timecode, lighting systems and LED technology.
Experience of ETC Eos Family lighting consoles, StreamingACN and OSC networks.
Knowledge of current Health & Safety guidelines and working practices
Ability to troubleshoot and adapt work in accordance with performance requirements.
The ability work under pressure and within a team
Good interpersonal and communication skills
