Job Summary

Stan’s Cafe, a socially engaged independent theatre company based in Birmingham, is looking to appoint a skilled individual to manage and co-deliver an 18-month long project running across 4-5 primary schools in Walsall. The project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Job Description

The National Lottery Heritage Fund are kindly supporting us with a grant of £103,000 enabling us to work with 240 Year 5 students from Primary Schools across Walsall. Together we will research, write and publish an illustrated biography of Sister Dora – complete with ebook, audio book and website.

We are looking for a fantastic Project Manager who is also an experienced Creative Learning Practitioner to lead Sharing Sister Dora from January 2026 until March 2027 with an evaluation period until June 2027.

The fixed term contract is based on 3 days per week (22.5 hours) during term times for 15 months, then 1 day per week (7.5 hours) during the 3 month evaluation period. We are happy to discuss other arrangements if they work for the project.

The salary is £30,000 per annum pro rata with a company pension, paid holidays, health scheme and tickets to our shows.

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Strong project management experience
  • Strong workshop delivery experience in primary schools
  • Experience of creating and monitoring a Project Plan
  • Experience of coordinating projects with schools
  • Excellent budgeting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
  • Experience of successfully delivering a complex project with a tight timeline

Desirable

  • Heritage experience
  • Previous experience working with a project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund
  • Own transport
