Job Description
The position involves supporting the fabrication and maintenance of a range of projects. It also includes acting as the main point of contact for external producers, while tracking fabrication schedules, costs, and project progress. The work combines hands-on fabrication with administrative and coordination responsibilities. Strong organisational skills and proactive communication with external partners are essential to ensure the creative team has the information, materials, and support needed to deliver projects smoothly.
– Research & Development: Research potential external fabrication partners for sculptures, merchandise, prints, jewellery, homeware, furniture, and a wide range of other creative projects. Present suitable options to the Artist and Creative Director, and discuss materials and production methods based on each project brief.
– Production Support: Follow the fabrication process from order to delivery. Monitor lead times, check quality throughout the process (via email, phone call and in person when possible), and keep the Artist and the team updated on progress or changes.
– Budgeting: Collect and compare quotes to ensure fabrication costs are reasonable
– Administration support: Help the team keep the database and project records up to date.
– Scheduling: Create and maintain production schedules
– Quality Control: Review fabrication details and update the Artist on progress, issues, and changes.
– Have a good knowledge of printing, casting, painting, and finishing three-dimensional artworks.
– Product Photography: Capture high-quality images of artwork and products.
– Bonus skill, creative Support: Basic Adobe software skills and the ability to occasionally support the graphic design team with simple mock-ups would be an advantage.
– Digital & Social Media Support: Help create content and support the artist’s online presence when needed
– Mandarin/Cantonese language would be a bonus but not essential
– £27k-£30k per annum, depending on experience
