Job Description

Do you have experience and/or a passion for working with libraries and archives and would like to join a friendly and dedicated team as a Library and Archive Coordinator at Tate?

In this role you will provide essential support in delivering services and access to Tate’s library and archive collections, in both physical and digital formats, for all Tate staff and members of the public.

Working closely with Library and Archive Coordinators, and other colleagues in the department, you will deliver front-of-house services in the Hyman Kreitman Reading Rooms at Tate Britain, as well as electronic document delivery services.

You will also contribute to the work of the Library team, supporting the management of the collection, including processing new acquisitions, checking-in journal issues, and creating and updating catalogue records.

If you are someone who is looking for hands-on experience in a leading art library and archive, can work in an agile and flexible way, and be proactive about providing excellent customer service, we would like to hear from you.

This position is offered on a permanent basis, part-time 2 days per week (equivalent to 14.4 working hours per week), on site.

We don’t accept CVs, so please complete all sections of the form, including your education and work history. Use this space to share specific examples of what you’ve done and how you work.

Tools like ChatGPT can be useful for exploring thoughts, but we ask that the words you share with us are your own. Responses that feel overly generic or artificially generated may not reflect the individuality we value-and could affect how your application is received or result in it being rejected.

Take your time. Be honest. We’re listening.

Job Requirements

You’ll have relevant experience of working in front-of-house services in a library, archive, museum or similar environment. We would welcome someone with knowledge of fine art or history of art. You will have excellent organisational ability, accuracy and attention to detail. You will be able to work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team. You will have good communication skills, and experience of delivering excellent customer service. Finally, we seek someone who can help to create a working environment that encourages equality, diversity and inclusion for all.
