Technician Exhibitions and Temporary Displays Full-time, 41 hours per week (including one hour paid lunch break) Permanent £28,144 per annum Application deadline: 12pm (midday) on 11 August 2025

Job Description

About the role:

In this role you will be part ofa small team of expert technicians within the Exhibitions and Temporary Displays Department. This role is responsible for the high-quality fabrication and finishing of set-works that support the Museum’s special exhibitions and displays programme. Primarily workshop-based, this is a hands-on technical role that requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a flexible approach to working. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the creation of engaging, visually striking exhibitions that meet the Museum’s high standards for presentation and visitor experience.

Job Requirements

About you:

  • Good general education including GCSEs or equivalent
  • Demonstrable interest in aspects of the Museum’s activities
  • Practical experience of hand tools and workshop equipment; carpentry experience
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, H&S and other relevant guidelines
  • Ability to work well as part of team; self-motivated and able to use initiative; good communicator
