Job Summary

Reporting to the Learning and Engagement Manager and working closely with the wider team, freelancers and volunteers, the focus for this Learning and Engagement Heritage Officer will be to develop and pilot a programme of participatory heritage engagement at Stanley Arts and across Croydon.

Job Description

9 month contract starting in May 2026, with extension subject to funding. Part-time, 4 days (32 hours) per week – inclusive of paid lunch breaks. Some flexibility in home working available. Salary: £30,784 pro rata 0.8 days Reporting to the Learning and Engagement Manager and working closely with the wider team, freelancers and volunteers, the focus for this Learning and Engagement Heritage Officer will be to develop and pilot a programme of participatory heritage engagement at Stanley Arts and across Croydon, designed to tie into and reflect a planned large-scale capital project including repair & conservation and environmental & access improvements.

Job Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who has the skills, attitudes and experience as outlined below: Is a self-starter, who is comfortable and confident in leading, coordinating and driving participation, arts and heritage engagement (or a similar area of work) within an organisation. Experience of leading learning and engagement programmes, amplifying underrepresented voices and offering various levels of participation within a heritage/museum/arts context. Experience of developing and delivering programmes of activities that successfully engage older people and people living with dementia. Experience of delivering programmes of activities that successfully engage primary and secondary schools as well as young audiences with their family and community groups. Experience of volunteer management, including the recruitment, training, support, retention and recognition of volunteers.
