Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery in Carlisle (trading as “Tullie”) is being transformed via a series of major projects into a modern, dynamic new cultural experience aimed at showcasing more of the museum’s historic collections, providing more community engagement opportunities and attracting more visitors. Phase 2 of ‘Project Tullie’ opened to great critical acclaim in April and we are now delivering Phase 3.
We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager who will perform a pivotal role in supporting the Senior Leadership Team in developing and delivering the Trust’s finances. You will be expected to manage the day-to-day functions of the charity to ensure financial compliance and overseeing items such as VAT, payroll and cash handling are carried out to the highest possible standards with meticulous record keeping.
You will also be expected to help with business planning, horizon scanning, troubleshooting, supporting the capital programme and advising the Director on key aspects of financial performance.
The postholder will be required to provide highly efficient and accurate information and advice, manage staff, assist with report writing, and work with colleagues to develop and manage policies and standards.
We are looking for an outstanding financial manager with excellent accountancy skills, who is conscientious and possesses great attention to detail. Job Requirements
OVERALL PURPOSE
- Overall responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial planning alongside leading and developing the finance function.
- Working in conjunction with the Project Team to ensure that the financial aspects of the Trust’s major capital transformation programme (Project Tullie) are managed and controlled.
- Ensure that the Trust maintains effective policies and procedures to comply with regulatory requirements including Charity Commission, Statutory and Taxation matters.
- Ensure that the Trust operates effective HR policies including staff development, remuneration and benefits.
- Accountable to the Director for the overall management of the Trust’s finances and management of the Audit & Risk Committee.
- Lead, motivate and develop all appropriate staff to ensure their performance is maximised.
- Responsible for the line management of the finance and HR team.
