Job Description

We’re looking for a proactive and hands on Facilities & Events Coordinator to help keep Grand Junction’s Grade I listed venue running smoothly and ready for a vibrant mix of community activities, classes, and cultural events. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the building, supporting health and safety, setting up event spaces and equipment, and occasionally managing events. This role suits someone with practical maintenance skills, confidence working with the public, strong organisational ability, and the physical stamina to thrive in a busy, dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do
Support day to day care and maintenance of a Grade I listed building, including minor repairs and DIY tasks.
Ensure health, safety, and security procedures are followed, including routine checks and fire alarm testing.
Set up rooms, equipment, and technical elements (sound, lighting, AV) for classes, events, and private hires.
Act as event manager or deputy for public events and hires, supporting volunteers and ensuring smooth visitor flow.
Work collaboratively with staff, contractors, and volunteers to support a welcoming, well organised venue.

What You’ll Bring
Practical maintenance/DIY skills and the confidence to troubleshoot on the spot.
Experience working with the public, including handling challenging behaviour.
Basic technical ability to support AV, sound, and lighting setups.
Strong organisation, communication, and time management skills.
Physical stamina, including lifting up to 25kg and being on your feet for extended periods.
A proactive, positive attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work evenings/weekends as part of an events rota and to obtain a DBS check

Salary is £30,000. This is a full time role (35 hours per week).

Job Requirements

Essential Requirements
Practical maintenance and DIY skills to carry out routine tasks, minor repairs, and occasional grounds work in a historic Grade I listed building. Technical ability to support sound, lighting, and AV setups for events and classes. Physical stamina to stand or walk for long periods and lift items up to 25kg. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. A proactive, team focused approach and willingness to undertake hands on duties. High attention to detail and ability to work independently using good judgement. Reliable, professional, and punctual, with strong communication skills and competent IT use. Willingness to work evenings and weekends and to hold or obtain a DBS check.
Desirable Requirements
Experience working with the public, volunteers, or contractors, knowledge of health and safety, site security, fire procedures, first aid, and safeguarding in a community venue.
