Job Description

Charles Burnand Gallery is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the full lifecycle of our custom pieces from early development and prototyping through to production and client delivery. You’ll manage our growing design and production team while ensuring creative integrity, technical precision, and smooth delivery across all custom projects.

Job Requirements

Skills and experience required

  • Proven experience in design management, within collectible design lighting and furniture.
  • Expert knowledge of our key materials and understanding of bespoke fabrication techniques.
  • Technical proficiency in Rhino 3D and KeyShot.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with a passion for innovation.

Job Responsibilities

Your key duties will include

Project Management:

  • Lead and develop custom furniture and lighting designs, from concept to fabrication.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and project workflows.
  • Ensure design integrity and quality standards throughout the production process.

Design Management:

  • Create high-quality 3D models and renderings using Rhino 3D and KeyShot.
  • Ensure materials finishes, and fabrication methods align with the studio’s high standards, proactively developing new or improved materials and processes as required by the business.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Manage the design and production team.
  • Work closely with external artisans, fabricators, and craftspeople.
  • Collaborate with internal teams in sales and gallery operations to deliver world class standards.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients and workshops.
  • Identify opportunities for improved workflows and material applications.
