Casting Callout: E.R.I.N in E.R.I.N, previewing at Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle

About the play
Have you ever had low self-esteem, questioned your own worth or wished you could be someone else? Then why not try an E.R.I.N system today! Brainwave Enterprises’ new in development mental health AI is designed to help you change your personality and make you into a better version of yourself. E.R.I.N transports the audience into a test subject’s own mind to help tackle areas of his personality. But as they are fixed, the more he is changed. But is it for better or worse? E.R.I.N explores what would happen if we could simply change who we are, but what if the best change you can make is to accept yourself?
Ultimately this piece is about the cost of perfection.

The character:
E.R.I.N (Emotional Response Intelligence Network) is an advanced artificial intelligence designed to be the perfect life coach/therapist to assist any mental health challenges people may face. Being a programme, she can shapeshift, but her monumental flaw is that she does not consider human emotions. On her quest to make Kieran a ‘successful’/conforming person in today’s society, she will do whatever it takes to achieve her objective, no matter the cost.

As this is an open callout, we welcome applications from artists from all backgrounds and also at any stage in their career. We are keen to hear from global majority actors and those who believe they are underrepresented in theatre.
