Job Summary
Job Description
Classbot 450 is an exciting, interactive theatre adventure co-created by award winning KIT Theatre and Potential Difference. The project uses immersive drama, game mechanics and a specially-designed visual coding interface to inspire disadvantaged primary school children to learn computer programming, while boosting their confidence, creativity and critical thinking.
Classbot takes place across schools in North West London, so requires performers who live within a commutable distance, and are happy with early starts.
The role
We are currently looking to cast an actor to play LeX the robot. This is a highly unusual, demanding and rewarding role at the heart of the project.
The role requires a confident mover who’s happy maintaining a committed physical performance (ie moving like a robot) whenever they are in character whether in a workshop or moving through the school. Whilst the role doesn’t “facilitate” workshops, LeX does interact extensively with children, so it requires a performer who is a confident improviser and ideally has experience of immersive work and/or working in schools or with young people. The role is supported by other actors and SM’s and never works alone.
Dates
Rehearsal dates Monday – Friday 13th – & 17th April plus 3-4 more days TBC over w/c 30th March and w/c 6th April. Rehearsals will take place in Islington and generally we rehearse 10am-6pm.
Delivery weeks are as follows, with normal call times being 8:30am-4pm.
School 1 – 20th-24th April 2026 (Kensington)
School 2 – 27th April – 1st May 2026 (Barnet)
School 3 – 18th May – 22nd May 2026 (Brent)
School 4 – 1st June – 5th June 2026 (Ealing)
School 5 – 15th June – 19th June 2026 (Barnet)
