Job Description
Keswick Museum is looking for new Trustees to join our Board as we enter an exciting new chapter. We are actively developing our visitor offer, with the ambition of growing our audiences and increasing our sustainable income, while continuing to strengthen our role within the local community.
We are particularly interested in people who can bring experience in areas such as digital development, marketing and communications, fundraising, audience development, legal and governance, education, finance, business or community engagement. But you don’t need to tick every box – we want a Board with a wide range of skills, experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. You don’t need previous experience as a Trustee or in a museum.

Job Requirements
Time commitment and expenses:
This is a voluntary role and Trustees are not remunerated. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed where agreed in advance.
There are six Board meetings each year, normally lasting around two hours and held on weekday late afternoons or early evenings. One meeting is extended to form an annual away day. Trustees should also allow sufficient time to read and consider papers before Board meetings.
There are may also be opportunities each year to work with staff on particular areas of activity. Trustees are encouraged to contribute to appropriate committee work, fundraising and other activities, according to their interests and availability.

About Keswick Museum
Keswick Museum was the first purpose-built museum in Cumbria, opening in 1898. Following a period under local authority management, it reopened in 2014 after a complete refurbishment and is now run by an independent charitable Trust, supported by a small staff team, a large group of local volunteers and strong community support.
