Two Truths
Job Summary
Job Description
Project Overview
Two Truths is an immersive audio experiment investigating how people perceive, believe, and contest truth in an era of misinformation. Audiences share the same physical space but hear divergent versions of the same event through binaural sound delivered via bone-conducting headphones.
This R&D phase, supported by Immersive Arts, will prototype and test the concept at Sheffield Theatres in June 2026.
Role Summary
We are seeking an Access Consultant to ensure accessibility is embedded into the structural framework of this experiment from the outset, not bolted on afterwards. This is not a box-ticking brief. The nature of the work (divergent audio, bone-conducting headphones, live response app) raises genuine and complex access questions, and we need someone who can engage with those questions creatively and practically.
You will work directly with Sound Designer Lee Affen and the Technical Production Manager to assess the audio delivery system, advise on alternative access layers, and help shape an ‘access toolkit’ that can be shared with the wider immersive sector as a transferable output of the R&D.
Location: Sheffield Theatres, Sheffield.
On-Site Development Dates:
Week 1: 8-10 June 2026
Week 2: 15-17 June 2026
Total engagement: 3 days, the scheduling of which will be agreed with the Lead Artists in advance. Days may be split across both development weeks. Working hours approximately 10am-5pm with flexibility.
Fee & Expenses
Total Fee: £795 (3 days @ £265 per day)).
Expenses: Reasonable travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed.
