Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, confident and self-sufficient Head of Lighting & Relighter to oversee all lighting and electrical elements for the Allegra UK tour.

Job Description

This role combines responsibility for the day-to-day running of the lighting department with maintaining and relighting the production to ensure the integrity of the original design across a range of touring venues. The successful candidate will be
responsible for operating the lighting console during performances, managing the LX rig on the road, and adapting the show sympathetically to each venue while upholding artistic and technical standards.

Lighting Operation, Relighting & Maintenance
Operate the lighting console for all performances, delivering the show consistently and accurately.
Relight and adapt the production for each venue in line with the original lighting design and documentation, maintaining artistic integrity across varying house rigs and sightlines.
Maintain, fault-find and troubleshoot all lighting equipment including lanterns, dimmers, power, effects and data networks.
Carry out daily pre-show checks, focusing, plotting adjustments and routine maintenance as required.
Maintain cueing, colour and focus information in line with the lighting paperwork and creative intent.

Get-Ins, Fit-Ups & Get-Outs
Lead the lighting fit-up and get-out at each venue, including rigging, patching, addressing and system testing.
Oversee and carry out focusing of all lighting fixtures, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and safe working practices.
Work with venue technicians to adapt the lighting rig where required and integrate touring equipment with house systems.

Touring & Teamwork
Provide guidance and support to the Technical ASM as cover for lighting duties when required.
Coordinate with sound and technical departments on shared rigging, cabling, power distribution and backstage logistics.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification
Proven experience as Head of Lighting, No.1 LX and/or Relighter on a professional theatre tour.
Strong working knowledge of modern lighting control systems (e.g. ETC Ion/Gio, Avolites) and intelligent fixtures.
High level of competence in rigging, focusing, DMX networking and fault-finding under pressure.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills, particularly in get-in/get-out environments.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a touring company.
Calm, adaptable and solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced touring context.
Full clean UK driving licence desirable.

Other Information
Evening and weekend work will be required in line with the performance schedule.
Touring allowances, per diems and travel are provided in line with touring arrangements.
The role involves manual handling and working at height (e.g. ladders, access equipment).
