Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly adaptable Technical Swing to join the touring company of Allegra. This role exists to provide cross departmental cover across Lighting, Sound and Stage Management, ensuring the continuity and technical integrity of the production throughout the tour.

Job Description

The Technical Swing will be trained on all relevant LX, Sound and Stage Management tracks and
must be confident stepping into any of these roles at short notice. This is a pivotal touring position
within a small company and requires strong technical competence, flexibility and a calm, solutions
focused approach to live performance environments.

Rehearsals: Monday 13 April – Saturday 2 May 2026
Technical Period: Tuesday 5 May – Monday 11 May 2026
Tour Dates: Tuesday 12 May – Saturday 4 July 2026

Technical Swing Responsibilities (LX, Sound & Stage Management Cover)
Train on and maintain competency across all designated Lighting, Sound and Stage
Management show tracks.
Step into LX Operator, Sound Operator or Stage Management tracks at short notice to cover
illness, leave or operational requirements.
Operate lighting and sound show tracks to a professional standard, maintaining consistency
with the production’s technical and creative requirements.
Support the Company Stage Manager in rehearsals, technical rehearsals and performances
as required.
Participate fully in get ins, fit ups and get outs at each venue, supporting lighting, sound and
stage management teams.
Maintain familiarity with touring documentation, cue sheets, running plots and backstage
layouts for all venues.
Support daily system checks across LX and Sound and assist with basic fault finding and
escalation of technical issues.
Assist with prop management, backstage organisation and maintaining safe working
practices.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification
Essential
Proven professional experience operating lighting tracks for live theatre.
Proven professional experience operating sound tracks for live theatre, including radio mic
systems.
Professional experience within Stage Management.
Ability to step into multiple technical and stage management roles with confidence and
minimal supervision.
Strong organisational skills, adaptability and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, company minded approach.
Strong working knowledge of health and safety in a technical theatre environment.

Desirable
Previous touring experience in a multi skilled or swing capacity.
Experience covering senior operators or departmental heads.
A clean UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles.

Other Information
This role involves regular travel and overnight stays in line with the tour schedule.
Evening and weekend work will be required.
