Callout for Artists – Arts On The Move

Solihull Cultural Education Partnership (CEP)

Job Summary

Solihull CEP are delivering a detached youth arts project, ‘Arts On The Move’, across Chelmsley Wood and Marston Green. We are looking for a range of artists to deliver drop in sessions via the Solihull youth bus, with some centre based work.

Job Description

Solihull CEP are delivering a detached youth arts project across Chelmsley Wood and Marston Green in partnership with Solihull Council and youth workers from MAPA (Meriden Adventure Playground Association). The project is funded by Million Hours and will run until March 2027. The project will use the Solihull Youth Bus alongside centre-based provision. The project aims to develop a strong local cultural and youth offer while positively engaging young people in areas where anti-social behaviour has been identified, providing constructive alternatives through creativity.

Sessions will be informal, drop-in, and will be delivered alongside a minimum of 2 youth workers.

Sessions will be intentionally flexible and responsive. Delivery will be relatively ad hoc, with different art forms offered week to week, allowing the programme to adapt to emerging needs, interests, and local contexts.

Sessions will generally be 6:30- 9:30pm, with some afternoons 2-5pm during holidays (this will be flexible depending on needs arising from the area and its young people).

We are seeking a broad range of artistic practices in order to appeal to the diverse interests, abilities, and backgrounds of young people across both areas. This may include (but is not limited to) DJing/ music production, filmmaking, visual arts, digital media, street arts, creative writing, or other participatory art forms. Solihull CEP’s Youth Board will feed into the decision-making process around which art forms are prioritised, ensuring the programme reflects young people’s voices and creative interests.

Fee: £200 per half day

Minimum of 5 sessions guaranteed per artist (£1000), with more added dependent on response from young people.
