Job Description
We are seeking a new Finance & Operations Manager, a part-time role focused on helping the organisation to run efficiently and to professional standards, and to work productively with its nationwide network of members – organisations and individuals developing and staging new musicals. If you’re interested in the UK’s fast evolving new musical theatre landscape, this is an opportunity to make a difference as part of an organisation at its heart.
Our current vacancy is a part-time role, for two days (fourteen hours) per week. The role offers a high degree of flexibility, including that the hours could be spread across multiple days, and the role is expected to be worked primarily remotely/from home – although we intend to recruit in the Midlands area, as occasional days working with other MTN staff at our base at Birmingham Hippodrome will be expected. As a result, this role could suit a freelance individual with a portfolio career, someone with childcare/caregiver responsibilities, or a semi-retired individual.
As the role will involve working closely with MTN’s Executive Director it could also suit an individual with ambitions to move into a similar role managing an arts organisation in the future. MTN is committed to diversifying the musical theatre sector, and would welcome applications from individuals from Global Majority heritages or with lived experience under-represented in the industry. A gross annual salary of £13,580 is offered in relation to two days’ work per week – pro rata to £33,949 gross full time equivalent.
Job Requirements
The Finance & Operational Manager is a new role, so is likely to evolve iteratively depending on the successful applicant’s strengths and as they get to know MTN’s existing operational systems and adapt them. We anticipate the balance of the role will roughly divide into thirds: one third financial management (primarily processing transactions in Quickbooks and preparing quarterly management accounts in collaboration with the ED), one third maintaining operational processes (working with the ED on HR and IT processes, applications & reports to funders and stakeholders) and one third collaborating on the delivery of our development initiatives such as BEAM and member events.
