Job Summary

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Board of Trustees as Treasurer to bring their experience and innovative ideas to help take Leeds Song into the next exciting phase of its development.

Job Description

You will advise the Board on financial strategy and compliance, and work with the Director and General Manager to oversee budgets, financial reporting, the preparation of the annual report and accounts, the annual independent examination process, the submission of required reports to Companies House and the Charity Commission, and overall risk management. You will present financial information to the Board in a way that enables Trustees to understand the implications and make informed collective decisions. In liaison with the Director, management team and our freelance fundraiser, you will also be involved in fundraising, providing financial information to support applications and any subsequent reports to bodies such as Arts Council England and Local Authorities, charitable trusts and foundations, and to private donors.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Monitor finances, report to the Board, and support budget development.
Working alongside the Director and General Manager, maintain financial records and ensure proper accounting procedures.
Ensure financial compliance, oversee financial risk management, and policy implementation.
Provide strategic financial advice to the Board for long-term sustainability.
Support fundraising by offering financial insights for applications and reporting.

Ability to analyse and clearly communicate financial data.

General Trustee Duties

Help shape the organisation’s strategy, ensuring financial stability and effective resource allocation.
Uphold the charity’s values and reputation while maintaining governance integrity.
Participate in meetings, and the charity’s decision-making
