Job Description
The role of the Workshop Supervisor – Heads and Props is to develop, nurture and support the freelance Head and Prop makers. This position is intended to be predominantly workshop based but will have some administrative functions.
They would directly report to the Head of the Head/Props department on a daily basis, whilst also working along side the Deputy Production Manager of the Head/Props department to ensure the efficient and cohesive allocation and distribution of work to the rest of the full time and freelance teams.
Their role will be located primarily in the Colliers Wood Workshops in Unit 3 & 4, but also take care of the day-to-day operation of the facility in Unit 6 ensuring all the building are accessible for the staff working there (full time & freelance) in order to complete the projects as necessary. There may also be occasion to work with the teams based in the Farnham offices.
Within the head/prop department they will adopting a mentorship approach the role will provide significant opportunities to foster personal growth in freelance makers. This will include a specific focus on the teaching of plastazote & digital sculpting methods
Being in a position of influence the Workshop Supervisor – Heads and Props will promote a sense of being valued which will promote less freelance maker turnover and encourage them to stay at the organisation for longer periods. In turn, raising freelance makers’ satisfaction levels, successful output will also grow as will their self-esteem and confidence.
The Workshop Supervisor – Heads and Props must be able to listen to concerns and be willing to learn and grow themselves taking a collaborative approach to problem solving.
They will be the initial point of contact for any production staff issues and will have the support of the Head of Production to resolve any matters.
Job Requirements
Previous experience in Mascot making is paramount.
