Job Summary

Wicked London are seeking an Assistant Musical Director to join the team.

Job Description

Job: Keys 2 (Assistant Musical Director)
Responsible to: Musical Director
Salary: Above MUSOLT / UK Theatre minima

Contract: Initially fixed term for 12 weeks. The position is full time and evening and weekend work will be required. Performance schedule Tuesday – Saturday evening performances (at 7.30pm) and 2.30pm matinees on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Please note this contract is subject to the Producer’s right to give two weeks’ notice to close the Production.

Start date: ASAP

Location: Apollo Victoria Theatre, London

Preferred: Previous experience as Assistant Musical Director on a large-scale West End musical or equivalent experience.

Personal Attributes: High level of self-awareness, empathy, integrity and confidentiality, detail orientated, strong communication and organisational skills, ability to work as part of a team as well as individually, a flexible approach to working unsociable hours, a positive attitude and a sense of humour.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but will not be limited to:

  • Attending all rehearsals, show calls, tuition calls as required, including emergency calls in the event of equipment failure or other incident, particularly if there is a risk of the cancellation of a performance;
  • Acting as an Accompanist for rehearsals, auditions or tuition as required by the Production;
  • Available on an ad-hoc basis for any and all pick up rehearsals;
  • Playing keyboard as a member of the orchestra;
  • Stepping up to conduct performances as required;
  • Taking cast warm-up sessions (at the discretion of the Musical Director);
  • Having an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and making necessary adjustments, if any;
  • Reading and responding to show reports;
  • Compiling and keeping updated cue sheets and other relevant show paperwork, both soft and hard copy, to such a level as to ensure an accurate reference of the Production;
  • Working in accordance with WLPL’s Health and Safety polic
