Job Description
About the Charity
Bretforton Grange & Theatrebarn is embarking on an extraordinary transformation to restore and repurpose its historic Grade II* estate into a world-class residential centre for creative excellence, education, and innovation in the performing arts. Our mission is to preserve and celebrate creativity, nurturing artists, supporting freelancers, engaging communities, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our remarkable heritage site.
The Role
We are seeking Trustees and a Chair to join our committed Board, guiding the organisation through a period of growth and renewal. Trustees play a vital role in shaping strategy, ensuring good governance, and supporting the Executive Director in achieving the Charity’s aims. The Chair will lead the Board, ensuring effective governance, strong relationships with the executive team, and advocacy for the Charity’s vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide strategic direction and governance oversight to ensure the Charity achieves its objectives.
-
Safeguard the Charity’s assets and reputation, ensuring compliance with legal, financial, and ethical standards.
-
Contribute expertise to areas such as finance, fundraising, hospitality, capital projects, or heritage conservation.
-
Support the restoration and development of the Grange, helping to secure funding and promote sustainable growth.
-
Champion the Charity’s commitment to creativity, inclusivity, and community engagement.
-
The Chair will additionally lead Board meetings, foster collaboration, oversee Trustee development, and act as an ambassador for the organisation.
Commitment
Four in-person Board meetings per year (each a maximum of 3 hours) in Bretforton, plus occasional subcommittee or online sessions. The roles are voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
This is a rare opportunity to help build something transformative, uniting heritage, creativity, and community to shape the future of theatre and the performing arts.
