Digswell Arts Trust

Job Summary

Digswell Arts Trust seeks a trustee with funding experience to help shape its next chapter. Join one of Hertfordshire’s leading art charities supporting emerging artists through affordable studios and community engagement.

Job Description

Digswell Arts Trust (DAT) is a long-established Hertfordshire-based charity supporting emerging artists and makers by providing affordable studios, mentoring, and professional opportunities.

The Trust is seeking a new trustee with experience in funding and fundraising to join the Board and help guide the organisation through its next phase of development.

As a trustee, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future direction of DAT – supporting its mission to promote the arts and provide a sustainable creative community. The Board is currently focusing on strengthening financial sustainability, developing new funding partnerships, and exploring opportunities to support more artists across Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will contribute to discussions on strategic funding priorities and may work closely with the Chair and Treasurer to support grant applications, donor engagement, and long-term income planning.

This is a voluntary position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to emerging artists and the wider creative life of the region.

Job Requirements

The Trust seeks an applicant with experience in funding, fundraising, or income generation within the arts, heritage, or charitable sector. A good understanding of how arts organisations sustain themselves financially through grants, partnerships, or donor engagement would be valuable.

The applicant should bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a collaborative approach to help the Trust explore new opportunities and strengthen existing relationships.

Trustees meet around four to six times a year, either in person at The Forge studios (Digswell, Hertfordshire) or online. In addition, trustees dedicate around 3-4 hours per week to supporting Trust activities, such as reviewing documents, contributing to funding initiatives, or providing strategic input. The role is flexible and can be managed remotely for much of the time.
