Job Summary
Job Description
Candidates should be proficient in their principal study, ideally to degree-level or equivalent standard. Applications will be welcomed from individuals wishing to specialise in Strings (upper and lower), Woodwind (Double Reed), Keyboard, and SEND for children with additional needs.
Previous teaching experience is not necessary but candidates must be enthusiastic about a career in instrumental and vocal music teaching. Candidates will need to have excellent communication skills, be well organised, presentable and have a passion for the musical and broader education of children and young people. A driving license and access to a car is desirable but not essential.
The NMPAT Teacher Training Programme offers:
- A range of mentoring and training opportunities throughout the academic year and regular peer to peer feedback sessions
- Professional experience with the opportunity to grow and develop personal skills
- Enrolment in the first year of the CME (Certificate of Music Educators) course, delivered by the MEHEM consortium (Music Education Hubs East Midlands)
- The opportunity to: observe, teach, team teach, participate in residential courses, work with some our award-winning county ensembles and also in one of our local Saturday morning Centres and to fully participate in the life of one of the busiest and most successful Music Trusts in the UK
- Potential for consideration for future permanent professional employment as a teacher
Contracted posts will be for an initial fixed 11 – month term (1st September 2025 to 31st July 2026 – extendable to 23 months), on the NMPAT pay scale: £22,858 pro rata, including enrolment in an employee Health Care Cash Plan, and pension scheme. Potential future earnings on the NMPAT Teacher scales: £24,828 – £36,531. (All figures quoted at 24-25 rates. Pay award pending.)
