Job Description

  • Working with the Head of WHAM and the Dep WHAM to prepare any wigs, hair, and makeup for rehearsals and performances
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of all wigs, hair, and makeup across the run of the production
  • Assist the team with daily setup, wigs pre-sets, and provide clear communication within the wigs team.
  • Working with the team to maintain and restock the relevant supplies across the tour.
  • Assist in the WHAM load-in ahead of each first performance and the WHAM get-out following the final performance at each venue
  • Be aware of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct wigs fittings when required to do so.
  • Report and feedback show and staff-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist the team in creating accurate production paperwork and ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show.
  • Acquire familiarity with all plots/tracks within the wigs department as required
  • Liaise between the Company Management, Stage Management, Technical departments, Creative Team, Production and General Management to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances.
  • Teaching new members of staff, deps and wigs staff and work closely with the theatre staff to ensure the smooth running of the production.
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production.
  • Understanding of textured hair and wigs
  • Interest in period hair
  • Knowledge of setting
  • Clear, confident communication
  • Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure.
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with the cast, creative and production teams essential.
  • Transparent and open approach, be able to work well under pressure
  • A full awareness of the need for integrity and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation.
