Tees Valley Actor Call Out- World’s on Fire

Little Cog

Job Summary

Little Cog Theatre Company is casting four Tees Valley-based actors for World’s on Fire, an ambitious new production, written and directed by the award-winning Vici Wreford-Sinnott.

Job Description

The play is a journey into what can happen when a town comes together to face global challenges through local strength. Vici is spending time with Stockton and Tees Valley residents and local environmental groups, with whom the production is co-created and performed.

We are casting for four characters, you can read the full casting breakdown linked below. A short summary is available here:

Four characters find themselves connected in a reclaimed old riverside shed which has become a community climate hub, where different groups meet to look after our area in a range of different ways, when an eviction notice is served and they are accused of anti-social behaviour.

Bec
Bec is a young activist who is trying to get young people involved with climate activism and Disability rights.

Jude
Jude is an upcycling, recycling artist who loves cardboard sculpture. They are also a sound artist, enjoying making recordings in nature.

Playing age: 25ish

Playing age: 60ish
Ethnicity: Any

All actors will be paid the following freelance fees:
3 day workshopping £450.00 inclusive plus the freelance fee for rehearsals and performance is £3250.00 inclusive

Rehearsals will be 5 days a week, Monday-Friday 10am-6pm. Where there are performances, working hours will be adjusted to ensure that actors are not required overtime.

Job Requirements

We are looking for confident, professional actors who work well workshopping new script, enjoy ensemble work and possibly already have some experience of working with large community casts. Ideally we’d like actors who can sing but this is not a traditional piece of musical theatre, so if you don’t feel like you are a strong singer do not let that put you off applying. You might be right for the part in other ways!

An open, generous and non-judgemental approach is essential for this project.

It would help if you are committed to the themes of the show: challenging the negative narrative placed on Teesside; concern for the environment; and, a strong belief in the power of community.

We welcome applications from all members of our local communities, including those from global majority, LGBT, and disabled communities.

To minimise the carbon footprint of the show we are casting people who live in Tees Valley only. Tees Valley must be your main and only residence.
