Job Summary

English Touring Opera seeks two Stage Technicians to work on two new exciting productions for their Autumn 2025 Season. Contract Dates – 15th September – 18th November Fee – £750 per week

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Apply practical stagecraft skills, knowledge, and experience to support the successful delivery of productions, ensuring the production team’s creative and artistic vision is realised accurately, safely, and consistently.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in all areas used by the Stage department, ensuring all equipment is properly stored, maintained, and ready for use.
  • Liaise with and manage local crew throughout the engagement, in collaboration with the Head of Stage and/or Head of Lighting.
  • Carry out scene and interval changes as required, wearing appropriate show blacks or costume as specified.
  • Assist with, and where appropriate, oversee, the safe and efficient loading and unloading of trailers.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance and care of all touring equipment throughout the engagement.
  • Assist the Head of Stage and/or Head of Lighting during fit-ups and get-outs, and in maintaining rehearsal room scenery and technical equipment prior to and during the tour.
  • Contribute to the preparation and upkeep of touring equipment, tools, stock, rigging, and staging within the rehearsal rooms and stores, both before and after the tour.
  • Support the running of rehearsals and performances as a member of the production team.
  • Work in accordance with production schedules, call sheets, and rehearsal timetables as issued by the Company.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Production, Head of Stage, and Head of Lighting, ensure all Health & Safety guidelines related to scenic elements and equipment are followed.
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture by adhering to and encouraging safe working practices across all activities.
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with venue staff, representing English Touring Opera in a positive and approachable manner.
  • Provide additional support to the Head of Production and wider production team as required, undertaking any other reasonable duties as necessary throughout the engagement.
