Stage Manager – Our American Queen

Location: London (Bridewell Theatre)

Contract: ITC/Equity Agreement (Fixed Term, Rehearsal + Performance)

Compensation: £601/wk (ITC/Equity minimum) + holiday pay

Dates: 2 December 2025 – 8 February 2026

Working Hours: 30 hours/week x 8 weeks

the american vicarious – the Brooklyn-based company whose recent London presentations include Debate: Baldwin vs. Buckley (Stone Nest 2023) and Fight for America! (2025) – is seeking an experienced Stage Manager for its next production, Our American Queen, premiering at the Bridewell Theatre in January 2026.

Project Overview:
Our American Queen is a new historical drama exploring ambition, power, and family in Civil War-era America. The production brings together an international team of U.S. and U.K.-based artists to create an intimate, design-forward staging within the Bridewell’s unique setting.

Schedule:

  • Rehearsals: 2 December 2025 – 3 January 2026 (London)
    (breaks for Christmas and New Year)

  • Load-In / Tech /Previews: 4 – 13 January 2026

  • Opening: 14 January 2026

  • Performances: through 7 February 2026, Tues – Sat @7:30pm

  • Load-Out: 8 February 2026

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years professional experience as a Stage Manager on text-based or design-driven productions.

  • Familiarity with ITC/Equity working practices and London theatre operations.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Calm, collaborative presence in the rehearsal room and during performance.
