Job Summary

HADESTOWN is seeking a Sound No. 2 who will work collaboratively within the Sound department to facilitate and manage the realisation of the sound elements for HADESTOWN at the Lyric Theatre.

Job Description

The Sound No. 2 will work collaboratively within the Sound department and alongside other technical teams, supporting the creative team and company, to facilitate and manage the realisation of the sound elements of HADESTOWN at the Lyric Theatre.

Together with the rest of the company, the Sound No. 2 will uphold a commitment to diversity and inclusion and will endeavour to create and maintain a working atmosphere, in rehearsal sessions and during performance, where all feel supported and empowered to deliver their best work.

£1,015.00 per week, buyout. A maximum average of 48 hours per week, normally worked over 6 days with one day off per week.

Initially a full-time fixed term contract, starting w/c 03 August 2026 until 01 August 2027 (inclusive).

The production will usually perform 8 shows a week Tuesday to Sunday, with Thursday, Saturday and Sunday matinees, and Monday as a day off.

Some availability may be required for prep and handover prior to the w/c 03 August 2026. These calls will be confirmed nearer the time, and you shall be paid the salary pro-rata for any hours worked.

Overtime, holiday including Bank Holidays, Sunday increments will be paid in addition. Holiday embargo weeks may be designated within the schedule.

Job Requirements

Experience of working in a similar role on a medium or large-scale West End production or
equivalent.
Excellent knowledge of mic fitting and maintenance on a medium or large-scale West End production or equivalent.
Experience with the industry-standard desks (specifically DiGiCo) and software, including Qlab and performer tracking, and radio microphones, in addition to other equipment and software.
Operational Sound experience and excellent technical skills, including excellent live mixing skills with a proven track record of dealing with complex radio mic shows.
Flexible and self-motivated approach with the ability to work well as part of a team and to form excellent working relationships.
To be able to work calmly under pressure and clearly demonstrate an empathy with the pressures of the backstage performance environment.
Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation.
Proactive and energetic, able to work with commitment and dedication to find solutions.
