Bridge Youth Theatre is seeking a Sound Designer and Operator for our upcoming production of Newsies Jr. This is an exciting opportunity to join the creative team for a fast-paced, 1 hour production in Bristol in July at the Redgrave Theatre.

Bridge Youth Theatre is seeking a local / Bristol based Sound Designer and Operator for our upcoming production of Newsies Jr.. This is an exciting opportunity to join the creative team for a fast-paced, one-hour production taking place at the Redgrave Theatre in July.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the sound design and operation of the production, ensuring a high-quality audio experience for both performers and audiences. Duties will include programming and operating the sound desk, managing radio microphones and playback systems, conducting system checks, troubleshooting technical issues, and working closely with the wider production team throughout final rehearsals and performances. There is no live band as this will be backing track and a young company of 30 (20 will be wearing mics).

This role would suit a recent graduate or an individual with experience working at Sound No. 3 or Sound No. 4 level who is looking to take the next step in their career and gain experience leading a department as a Head of Sound.

The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and confident working in a live theatre environment, with a strong understanding of sound systems and musical theatre production requirements.

The fee for this engagement is £700 based on a 6 day working week. There may be some online meetings with the Director and Production team prior to you attending the final run through.

Show Week: Tuesday 21 July – Saturday 25 July

Job Requirements

Proficient in operating digital mixing consoles (e.g.
Strong working knowledge of radio mic systems, playback software and PA rigging.
Able to troubleshoot quickly under pressure during live performances.
Calm, professional, and collaborative in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working independently.
Experience working with young people
Full clean UK driving licence desirable.
