Job Description
The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with global outreach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural co-operation. We convey a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information on Germany’s cultural, social and political life. We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community.
The Goethe-Institut London is seeking a Social Media Manager (M/F/D) to start as soon as possible. The position is for 19.5 hours per week (equivalent to 50% of our full-time working week of 39 hours). The contract is permanent. The part-time role is remunerated in accordance with the current remuneration scheme for local staff at Goethe-Institut in the UK. The starting salary is £18,297.72 gross per annum (part-time, 19.5 hours / 0.5 FTE). Please note that the successful candidate must have permission to work in the United Kingdom by the start of their employment.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
German at C2 level
English at a minimum of C1 level
Experience in strategic communications management, including social media and online marketing
Experience in creating and editing content for digital audiences, e.g. using platforms such as Canva
Experience using content management systems (CMS)
Knowledge of and interest in cultural and education policy exchange between the UK and Germany
Strong attention to detail
Flexibility and reliability
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
Conceiving, planning, producing and publishing multimedia content for the Goethe-Institut London’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), ensuring alignment with corporate design guidelines and strategic objectives.
Community management across the Goethe-Institut London’s social media channels.
Analysing social media metrics and using data insights to inform the development of future social media strategies.
Working closely with cross-departmental teams and partner institutions to promote cultural and language-related events, programmes and courses in a targeted manner and maximise their reach.
Supporting the communications department with the creation and ongoing maintenance of content for digital platforms, including the Goethe-Institut UK website and social media channels.
