Job Description
1. Social Media Management
Manage and monitor CHQ’s social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, X, and others as required
Create, schedule, and publish content in line with CHQ’s content plan and brand guidelines
Reshare relevant content from partner organisations and engage with audiences by responding to comments and messages
Maintain and update the social media content calendar in collaboration with the CHQ team and partner communications teams
Attend a monthly social media planning meeting
Create paid social media advertising campaigns and work with external agencies to support the promotion of Chelsea History Festival
2. Digital Content and Asset Production
Capture, edit, and deliver high-quality digital content for online use, including photography and video
Produce short-form video content optimised for social platforms, particularly vertical video (9:16)
Photograph and capture content at CHQ events and programming
Create reels and short-form content exploring the history of Royal Hospital Road and CHQ’s partner organisations
Capture both daily festival content and evergreen assets to support future festival promotion
3. Audience Development and Evaluation
Monitor and analyse social media performance across all platforms, including engagement, reach, and audience growth
Track trends and changes in social media behaviour and platform features and advise the CHQ Programme Co-ordinator and CHQ Director on the CHQ’s marketing plan
Produce regular performance reports for the CHQ Director and Programme Co-ordinator
Review and refine social media strategy on a quarterly basis in response to insights and emerging trends and advise the CHQ Director and CHQ marketing meeting on tactics and delivery.
Prior to the Chelsea History Festival, the freelancer will be required to attend a planning meeting to identify key activities and events to be captured.

Job Requirements
The Chelsea Heritage Quarter is a collaboration between Chelsea Physic Garden, the National Army Museum, the Royal Hospital Chelsea and Cadogan. Drawing on this shared history, the Chelsea Heritage Quarter explores 350 years of history through the heritage and collections of its partner institutions. A registered charity, Chelsea Heritage Quarter delivers a year-round programme of events and walking tours, with our flagship Chelsea History Festival taking place annually in October.

The freelancer will work approximately one day per week (7 hour day) over 46 weeks, scheduled flexibly in line with CHQ priorities. Additional days per week may be required to capture live programming and events but these are capped at 46 days a year.
During Chelsea History Festival (30 Sept-4 Oct 2026), the freelancer will be expected to work daily to capture, edit, and publish same-day content, as well as to produce evergreen assets for future use.
