Job Description
Title: Art Consultant (Curatorial)
Salary: £33,400 per annum (Full-time, Permanent)
Purpose: To lead the curatorial delivery of the commissioned ‘Echoes of Africa’ The role is responsible for the artistic vision, sourcing authentic African artworks, managing artist relations, and ensuring successful project execution.
Main Duties:

Develop the exhibition’s curatorial narrative and thematic framework.

Source, select, and negotiate for contemporary African artworks, utilising an established professional network across the continent.

Act as primary liaison for all participating artists and the Foundation client.

Manage exhibition budgets, timelines, logistics, and installation.

Produce all interpretive materials (essays, labels, digital content).

Develop partnerships with cultural institutions to support programming.
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent) in Fine Art, Curating, Art History or related field or 5+ years curatorial/producing experience with programme origination and international exhibition delivery.
- Demonstrable success in winning arts commissions/grants/sponsorships and converting leads to signed agreements.
- Track record curating or producing multi-site exhibitions and cross-border collaborations.
- Experience managing budgets >£250k and multi-stakeholder projects.
- Strong artist liaison and contract/rights negotiation capability; excellent written Proposals.
- Extensive professional experience in African visual arts, cultural heritage, or curatorial practice.
- Proven track record of originating and delivering Africa-focused exhibitions or cultural programmes.
- Established professional networks with African artists, curators, institutions, or cultural bodies.
- Experience working across multiple African regions or countries.
