Public Realm Culture Officer
12 Month FTC
Grade C – £35,412 – £44,075
Consultation grade – subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Working 36.5 hours per week

Help Shape Birmingham’s Public Realm

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Birmingham City Council as a Public Realm Culture Officer, playing a key role in delivering the city’s ambitious public art and public realm vision. This role will lead and support the implementation of the city’s Public Art and Realm Strategy, helping to embed creativity into regeneration, infrastructure, and placemaking projects across Birmingham.

Working collaboratively across Council directorates and with external stakeholders, you will help ensure that public art contributes to creating vibrant, inclusive, and distinctive places for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Job Requirements

What you’ll need…

We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional with:

Significant experience within public art, visual arts, public realm, cultural development or a related discipline.
A degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant professional experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working within governance, risk management and decision-making frameworks.
Experience engaging with communities, stakeholders and partner organisations.
Proven project and budget management experience.
The ability to develop and implement systems, policies and procedures.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
Knowledge of current public art and public realm trends and issues.
Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
