Job Description
Hidden Depths is an intergenerational photography and storytelling project led by photographer and filmmaker, Laura Page. The project celebrates the rich and varied lives of older adults while challenging ageist stereotypes, and encourages collaboration and conversation between generations. In 2026, Hidden Depths will be exhibited at Lichfield Cathedral as part of Lichfield Festival, supported by workshops, social sessions, and street-based conversations that bring people of all ages together. The project culminates in 2027 with a community-made short film, a touring exhibition of the works created, and a celebration event.
The videographer will play a central role in shaping the community short film, working closely with Laura Page and the project team to capture the emotional, social, and creative heart of Hidden Depths. The film will weave together personal stories, intergenerational encounters, and documentary style reflections on aging and place.
Job Responsibilities
Capture thoughtful, intimate interviews with people of different ages exploring intergenerational relationships, personal experiences of aging, stereotypes of different generations, and their sense of place and belonging in Lichfield (interviews will take place across workshops, facilitated coffee mornings, and pop up street activity sessions).
Document workshops and creative activity, including different generations partaking in the workshops.
Capture shared stories and response. This may include:
o Participants responding to photographs
o Reflections on memory, identity, and community
o Public responses to the visual exhibition
Incorporate creative outputs generated during the project, such as participant-filmed photography and videography or artworks.
Explore wider documentary themes around aging, intergenerational barriers such as stereotypes and age discrimination, and sense of belonging.
