Job Description
The organisation is run by an active board of trustees with consultant support. We are now seeking an experienced freelance Project Director to oversee the transformative development of the Rory Young House. The Project Director will lead the entire project, ensuring it is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest possible standards. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a significant cultural and educational initiative that combines heritage conservation with hands-on learning and craft preservation.
Project Location: Working from home and Cirencester, during standard office hours, with travel to the site as required for meetings and events. Occasional early evening or weekend commitments may be required for receptions and relationship building.
Contract Type: Freelance/Contract position, with duration aligned to the project’s milestones with an initial 12-month contract. Work hours are flexible with an anticipated average commitment of six days per month over a 12-month period. Fees payable against invoice at £300 per day.
Job Requirements
Experience: Project management background in heritage, conservation, museum projects, or related cultural initiatives. Proven success in managing complex heritage preservation and educational programs. Familiarity with heritage craft preservation and training is advantageous.
Skills: Excellent organisational and leadership abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities and stakeholders. Strong budget and financial management skills with a focus on cost control. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
Degree or professional qualification in arts, architecture, project management, heritage conservation, or related field. PMP or similar certification is preferred.
Personal Attributes: Passion for heritage and education, committed to traditional craft skills. Strong problem-solving, proactive, and creative in handling challenges. Diplomatic and collaborative in stakeholder engagement, aiming to benefit the community and heritage sector.
