AIM

Bolton at Home is looking for a creative/cultural practitioner, organisation or collaboration to develop and deliver a proposal for a programme of creative activities that will engage, inspire & involve local people, have a positive impact on their health & wellbeing and complement existing targeted activity.

THE BRIEF

The commission is for an experienced North-West England based creative/cultural practitioner, organisation or collaboration to develop and (subject to approval) deliver a creative programme of activities that will:

  • engage local people of all ages and backgrounds
  • contribute to the improvement of participants’ mental and physical health and wellbeing
  • encourage local people outdoors to explore their local area, and to take an interest and pride in their environment and local heritage
  • provide participative opportunities for families, and children & young people, out of school hours, incorporating outdoor play for children and for adults
  • link into the longer-term regeneration plans for the area
  • consider low maintenance sustainable materials where appropriate
  • include an end-of-project showcase/exhibition event
  • incorporate a flexible approach, seeking regular feedback from participants, residents and community stakeholders collaboratively to modify elements of the project if required

We anticipate that the project will take place in various locations across the Hall i’th’ Wood neighbourhood.

TIMESCALE

Start: August 2025

End: January 2026

BUDGET

The total budget available for this project is £10,000 (including VAT)

The budget will need to cover all relevant costs including professional fees (including meetings, planning, preparation & delivery), materials, installation costs where appropriate, expenses (including travel expenses), and appropriate insurances.

An additional small budget has been set aside to fund, for example, refreshments for event/s, transport and/or entrance fees for project-related group visits.

Job Requirements

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

You will be a professional, practising creative/cultural practitioner, with at least three years’ experience of designing and delivering quality creative and engaging community and/or environmental activities. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • the delivery of comparable projects and the aptitude to deliver this type of work
  • an understanding of the challenges related to delivering projects in the community
  • experience of working with relevant professionals
  • excellent communication and community engagement skills
  • excellent budget and project management skills

You should have the relevant skills and experience to deliver the commission, including safeguarding, risk assessment and insurance.

You will need to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the UK, and public liability insurance cover (£5m-£10m).

An end of project evaluation report will be required as part of this commission.

You will be expected to attend appropriate planning / delivery group meetings.
