Job Summary

Applications are now open for a production placement in Video Design at the National Theatre, taking place over 15 days (120 hours) between 1 May and 3 September 2026.

Job Description

Production placements are one of our career development initiatives, they aim to provide opportunities for those currently underrepresented in the theatre workforce. This opportunity is for someone interested in learning more about Video Design for theatre.

The role will provide the opportunity to shadow and observe the work of Co-Video Designers Tal Yarden and Gino Ricardo Green, in the creation of their design for The Story by Tracey Scott Wilson.

The placement will offer the opportunity to:
– Observe the work of the Video Designers.
– See how they work with the wider creative team.
– The opportunity to attend meetings alongside the Video Designers if appropriate
– Attend some pre-rehearsal work, rehearsals, fit up, technical rehearsals and previews to observe key parts of the production process.

This is a paid opportunity, equivalent to London Living Wage day rate of £118.40 x 15 days (120 hours) between 1 May and 3 September 2026.

Job Requirements

What We’re Looking For:
– A strong interest in pursuing a career as a Video Designer
– Some demonstrable experience/knowledge of Video Design (e.g. basic video design/video editing skills, experience of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premier and Adobe Photoshop)
– The ability to communicate how this opportunity will provide a next step in their creative practice and career development
– Willingness to work in a team
– A collaborative, adaptable approach
– An awareness of/and interest in sustainability in the theatre production process and the NT’s aims in this area
