Bristol Old Vic is looking for a Producer to support the delivery of all produced and programmed work at Bristol Old Vic, and to support the programming of the theatre by being the lead point of contact for key visiting work throughout the year.

Job Description

To support the delivery of all produced and programmed work at Bristol Old Vic and support the programming of the theatre by being the lead point of contact for key visiting work throughout the year.

To lead produce, select shows in the theatre throughout the year (2 or 3), and to work closely with the rest of the Producing and Programming team on the producing of the rest of the shows throughout the year.

To work with the Literary team to program the Weston Studio and, where appropriate, oversee the producing of shows in the Studio. To line mange the Assistant Producer.

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience producing theatre in either subsidised, commercial or building-based settings.
  • A knowledge of the producing process from commission through to putting together a creative team, contracting and overseeing a show through technical rehearsals and previews.
  • Experience managing large project budgets with experience building budgets from scratch and managing and reconciling show budgets.
  • Experience negotiating contracts with agents and artists and maintaining positive relationships with each.
  • Knowledge of relevant union agreements (Writers Guild, UK Theatre, SOLT, BECTU, Equity).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and handle pressurised situations.
  • Highly organised with excellent administrative and time management skills.
