Hours: 35 hours (full-time), Mon to Fri 9am-5pm.
Location: On-site Bow Arts office
Salary range: £32,523

The Operations Manager sits at the heart of Bow Arts’ operations, acting as the common link between departments and managing HR, Governance, IT and administration. This is a hands-on, varied role with real scope to shape and improve the systems that keep the organisation running.

You will oversee the full spectrum of business administration, managing day-to-day office operations, supporting senior leadership, coordinating and leading on cross-departmental initiatives, and ensuring policies and procedures are current and properly embedded across the organisation. You will also serve as the primary administrative support to the Board of Trustees.

The role includes office management, administration, HR processes, governance support and reporting. Responsibilities include managing contractors and suppliers, implementing and improving IT systems, supporting recruitment and induction, maintaining staff records, coordinating training, organising and clerking Trustee meetings, supporting Trustee recruitment and making statutory returns.

The Operations Manager will also coordinate and contribute to grant applications, lead on reporting to Arts Council England as per grant requirements, and contribute to the activities of other departments as required.

Job Requirements

Proven experience in operations management or similar roles, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing skills gaps. Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures and working practices, and supporting a Board of Trustees or Directors, including preparing and distributing meeting papers, taking accurate minutes and managing governance calendars.

Experience supporting staff teams and HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, induction, leave and sickness monitoring and staff welfare. Project or programme management experience and excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.

Highly organised, methodical and detail-oriented, with strong coordination skills and the ability to manage competing demands effectively. IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Outlook, the wider M365 suite and other IT and database systems. A proactive approach and ability to work with minimal supervision.
