At the Arbib Education Trust we are leaders in school centred Museum Learning. Our Trustee for Museum Learning plays an important strategic role, shaping how we inform high quality education and how we respond to on-going changes in education and wider society.

Job Description

Reporting to the Chair of Trustees, the Trustee for Museum Learning provides strategic oversight of Museum Learning at our Multi Academy Trust. The postholder provides general governance, oversight and leadership to inform the strategy and future direction of the Trust and our three academies. The postholder acts as a bridge between fellow Trustees on the Board, and the Museum Learning team, guiding us to provide a high quality education for almost 2500 children and young people.

The postholder attends six meetings a year, comprising 4 Trustee Board as an attendee, and 2 Museum Learning Committees as Chair.

Meetings are typically 2 hours long and take place during working hours. Trustees are expected to attend in person, with an additional 1 day of training per year.

In order to perform the role you are expected to conduct on-line or in-person meetings with the Head of Museum Learning and other colleagues as appropriate.

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone with proven experience in museum or cultural learning at a senior level. You will have a passion for the power of museum and cultural learning to enhance the lives and broaden the opportunities for children and young people. While having the drive to see Museum Learning flourish in our schools, you will also have a sensitivity as to the multiple pressures on schools and understanding of finding vision and aspiration while navigating the complex school environment. The Trust is innovative and looking to build resilience, so experience of systems thinking and change-making would be valued. We are always interested in the impact of Museum Learning on students, so your experience of evaluation is appreciated. We have recently completed a NLHF grant that enabled us to build resilience and we are looking towards the next steps.
