The vehicle operates year-round and visits schools, community groups, libraries and festivals. LMS teachers deliver sessions onboard the vehicle to small groups of students, typically between 5-8 students at a time. Sessions offered are dependent on the skills of the teacher onboard, and we want to develop new sessions with String Explorer, wellbeing and recording studio options. The following sessions are available currently:
Instrument discovery
Sound Yard composition sessions
Music technology
Brass Explorers

Early Years
This academic year we are particularly looking to cover Mondays to Thursdays. School bookings are for 5 hours and usually run from 9am-3pm with 1 hour for lunch (which is unpaid time). The students are often trying out instruments and technology for the first time, and a large amount of enthusiasm and energy is required to make their visit to the MMV really enjoyable and memorable.
The MMV will only be out in the community when it has been booked, and you will liaise with our driver Alex regarding details of bookings. You are not paid when there isn’t a booking. Therefore, this opportunity will suit people with some flexibility who don’t necessarily need to work and be paid every week of our 34-week academic year or in holiday periods. There could be additional adhoc paid opportunities to support service needs and events.
Teachers will develop the musical, personal and creative potential of young musicians, bringing all the benefits that a quality music education an offer young people’s individual and social development.
