The Role
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic person with a good standard of written English (shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a writing test.) Applicants should be keen to develop new skills and open to learning from feedback. You will enjoy variety in your work, and you’ll need to be flexible. This is not a routine job as every week will be different.
The Horton is run by a registered charity working to offer high-quality creative and cultural experiences to the general public and to promote the heritage of the site. We are committed to being an inclusive venue and to promoting diversity.
You will be involved in most aspects of day-to-day marketing, primarily these will include:
Maintaining a plan for social media and other marketing activities
Digital design (using Canva)
Video editing and photo adjustment (using Canva)
Social media posting and the management of comments/questions
Content gathering from the promoters/producers of events (e.g. images, copy, video clips)
Filing and managing the above content
Web and box office system content (writing, editing images, uploading)
Print management and distribution
There will be opportunities to learn and take part in following, as the role progresses:
Paid digital advertising on Google, Facebook and Instagram
E-Marketing via Mailchimp
Traffic analysis and sales tracking via Google Analytics
Box office system development
Website management
Job Requirements
You’ll need:
A bachelor’s degree or other qualification where you have demonstrated the ability to write well. You will need to demonstrate excellent spelling, grammar and accuracy. You will also need the ability to proofread.
Very good organisational skills.
Knowledge of Word, Canva and Excel.
A good eye for detail.
A good eye for design.
Understanding of posting on social media channels.
Experience of photo-manipulation and video editing.
An interest in the creative arts and/or heritage.
A warm and friendly manner.
Confidence in talking to members of the public of all ages and backgrounds.
Very good organisational skills.
The ability to quickly switch between different areas of work.
A can-do, positive approach whatever the task at hand.
A problem-solving mindset.
Nice to have…
Knowledge of the local area.
Knowledge of Mailchimp, Ticketsolve, Google Analytics, CRM.
Knowledge of WordPress or a similar CMS.
Understanding of the history of The Horton and Epsom
