Job title: Learning Manager (Maternity Cover)
Reports to: Director of Engagement
Base: Remote working, in, or in close proximity to, London (for schools-based work we are delivering in spring 2026)
Hours: Part Time, 3 days per week (0.6 x FTE). Temporary contract from late August 2025 for the duration of the Head of Learning’s maternity leave.
Salary: £19,200 per annum (£32,000 p.a FTE)
The role of Learning Manager is to lead on Arvon’s under-18’s programme, recruiting new schools and groups to attend residentials as well as coordinate in-school and one-day visits to Arvon’s three writing houses. The role also includes creating new partnerships with like-minded organisations and maintaining existing relationships.
As Learning Manager you would be responsible for co-ordinating and programming all school and partnership weeks at the writing houses for 2026 and recruiting schools and partners for 2027 residentials.
You would also manage the planning and delivery of the Primary Arts Touring Programme in partnership with A New Direction, working with up to 15 primary schools in the Greater London area to run creative writing workshop days.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with schools and partners to coordinate multisite educational programmes
Familiarity with creative writing, arts, or literacy-focused programmes Ability to develop and sustain productive partnerships
Understanding of fundraising processes and working with development teams
Strong networks within the arts and experience of working with and programming writers
