Kirklees Young Producers

Chol Theatre

Job Summary

A paid creative opportunity for 16 – 24 year olds in Kirklees to help design and deliver Teen Takeover, a new week long festival in Huddersfield. No experience needed.

Job Description

We are looking for two Young Producers (ages 16 – 24) based in Kirklees to take part in a paid internship with Chol Theatre and The Children’s Art School, supporting the creation and delivery of Teen Takeover, a new week long programme of creative events in Huddersfield town centre during February half term 2025.

As a Young Producer, you’ll gain hands-on experience in producing, planning and delivering a festival style event designed by and for young people. Working alongside experienced arts professionals, you’ll learn about event management, marketing, programming, budgeting, and audience engagement. You’ll be supported throughout by the team at Chol Theatre, who will provide mentoring, guidance and training to help you develop your creative and professional skills.

This is a flexible, part-time internship designed to fit around your existing commitments (such as college, work, or caring responsibilities). You’ll take part in planning sessions between December 2024 and February 2025, followed by five full delivery days during February half term.

You don’t need previous experience – just enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to get involved. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, and particularly encourage young people from groups underrepresented in the arts, including those from global majority, working-class, and disabled communities.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to bring creative ideas to life, develop professional networks, and make a real impact in your community.

The internship is based on a daily rate of £93.75 for up to 7.5 hours of work per day, equating to an hourly rate of £12.50 per hour.

Across the 10 paid days, the total expected working hours are therefore up to 75 hours in total.

Fee: £937.50
Dates: Flexible days between December 2024 – February 2025, including full half term week
Location: Huddersfield town centre, Kirklees
Deadline: Monday 8 December, 5pm

Job Requirements

  • Interested in the arts, events, or community projects
