Job Summary

SYLVIA is looking for a Head of Wardrobe for our 7 week UK Tour in Autumn 2026, including 5 performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Job Description

THE ROLE

The Head of Wardrobe will be responsible for the maintenance of all costumes on the show. They will have a track during performances and will be supported by a Deputy Head of Wardrobe and Wardrobe Assistant. The engagement will be from 14 September – 15 November 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To assist in setting up the Wardrobe department and preparing costumes during technical rehearsals.

  • To oversee the day-to-day running of wardrobe on the show.

  • To run the Wardrobe track during performances

  • To carry out wardrobe maintenance and running repairs as required.

  • To maintain the costumes and accessories to the standard required by the Set & Costume Designer and Costume Supervisor.

  • To be responsible for the understudy costumes and their subsequent presentation when they are required.

  • To clean and launder costumes in the manner and frequency required to maintain the appearance of the costumes, including arranging outside dry cleaning if necessary.

  • To follow up all notes made by the team regarding costumes, checking for accuracy and to maintain the master Show Bible.

  • To maintain necessary stock, consumable and equipment and manage a petty cash float and make purchases as required.

  • To manage the Wardrobe department during get-ins and load-outs at each venue.

  • To work collaboratively as a department with other technical departments, stage management, the acting company, resident creative team members and venues to ensure the efficient flow of information.

  • Being present for rehearsals, technical rehearsals and show calls as required.

  • To create and encourage a supportive, inclusive and positive culture for all staff on the production.

  • Complying with the Manager’s Health and Safety and other policies at all times and ensuring departmental staff do the same.

Job Requirements

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • An experienced Head of Wardrobe with experience on large scale and/or touring musicals.
  • Excellent sewing skills and a working knowledge of theatre and period costume.
  • Candidates who can be flexible and work well as part of a team.
  • Solution-focused candidates who work calmly under pressure.
  • Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate with creative individuals and teams.
  • A desire to work in and uphold an actively anti-racist and inclusive working environment.
