Job Summary
Smart Entertainment are seeking an experienced Head of Video and Lighting for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the new live version of Douglas Adams’ mind-blowingly imaginative comedy (mis)adventure, taking place at Riverside Studios this Winter.
Job Description
Production Dates
Shows: 27th November 2025 – 22nd February 2026 (Tues – Sun)
Option to Extend: 12th April 2026
All dates are subject to change.
Job Responsibilities
- To ensure all video and lighting equipment is maintained and fully operational for every performance.
- To perform pre-show rig checks across multiple spaces, replacing and maintaining lamps as required.
- To execute a backstage plot for the show when required.
- To take on departmental show operation responsibility as required.
- To rig and focus lights and video equipment when required.
- To provide troubleshooting and immediate resolution of any technical issues with technical equipment during performances, including emergency calls in the event of equipment failure or other incident.
- To ensure that all technical equipment is operated in line with health and safety regulations.
- To, in collaboration with the Head of Sound, act as head of department for the tech swing.
- To maintain an accurate running budget for any lighting and video consumables
- To execute any and all other duties required of a Head of Lighting and Video
