Job Summary
Smart Entertainment are seeking an experienced Head of Sound for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, the new live version of Douglas Adams’ mind-blowingly imaginative comedy (mis)adventure, coming to Riverside Studios this Autumn.

Start Date: 4th November
Tech: 10th November -14th November
Dress: 14th November
Previews: 15th November – Tuesday 25th November (Tues – Sun) Opening Night: 26th November
Shows: 27th November – 22nd February (Tues – Sun)
All dates are subject to change.
Job Responsibilities
- To ensure all sound equipment is maintained and fully operational for every performance including both handheld and cast-worn radio mics.
- To maintain and manage the show’s comms and cue lights system.
- To perform pre-show rig checks across multiple spaces, maintaining and replacing and sound equipment as required.
- To live mix the show and operate various sound and musical cues.
- To assist in the fitting of various radio mics.
- To provide troubleshooting and immediate resolution of any technical issues with technical equipment during performances, including emergency calls in the event of equipment failure or other incident.
- To ensure that all technical equipment is operated in line with health and safety regulations.
- To, in collaboration with the Head of Video & Lighting, act as head of department for the tech swing.
- To create and maintain an accurate running budget for any sound consumables.
- To execute any and all other duties required of a Head of Sound
