Head of Junior Conservatoire – School of Music

We are: seeking to recruit a dynamic musician and pedagogue to be our Head of our Junior Conservatoire (Music). You will provide academic leadership for our Junior and pre-HE Music students and staff and lead the enhancement of pedagogy within our Junior provision, providing an academic bridge between the Junior Conservatoire and programmes and staff in the School of Music.

This is a key role within the RCS, leading a strategically important department with associated managerial and budgetary responsibilities. Reporting to the Director of Music, you will work closely with a wide variety of Conservatoire staff and external partners and stakeholders to ensure that provision is aligned with institutional, local, national and international priorities and needs.

You will be: an educational leader with a distinguished reputation as an artist and will be required to maintain the highest standards of conservatoire teaching and performance.

You should: have demonstrated leadership in pre-HE Music provision within an academic setting, together with extensive experience in performance pedagogy. You will hold a degree in music, a teaching qualification and have experience in primary/secondary and/or tertiary education.
